AlphaTouch is a second generation access control system that was originally developed to deal with the rising intercom issues many buildings face.

Property managers were reporting  their intercom and property access systems are aging and deteriorating from simple wear and tear. Over time, the building intercoms develop buzzing and static. This made it much harder for residents to hear what was being said.

Another significant issue was the increase in maintenance requests that had to do with the intercom wiring. After about 25 years, the wiring was starting to crack, which led to electrical problems and systems that stopped working.

This was translating to higher costs to maintain the systems. Sometimes replacement parts became very difficult to find.

Problems like these created complaints from residents, who voiced their desire for more safe and modern features.
